Early life:

Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, into a family of musicians, Chithra's father, the late Krishnan Nair, was additionally her initial guru (teacher). Her elder sister K. S. Beena is additionally a playback singer.[citation needed] Chithra received her coaching in Carnatic music from Dr. K. Omanakutty, passed B.A. in music with top notch and third rank from the University of Kerala, and completed a degree in music. Playback singing:
Chithra was introduced to South Dravidian playback by M. G. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in 1979 and went on to become an everyday singer for several South Dravidian musicians, as well as Raveendran.
